| History |
The village of Rensselaerville has a rich history with humble beginnings. In 1870 a mill operated by F.C. Huyck produced papermakers’ felts in the burgeoning paper industry. The business prospered, soon outgrowing the resources in the area, and Mr. Huyck moved the mill to Albany - 27 miles to the northeast. However, the Huycks remained very active in Rensselaerville, summering there and establishing a philanthropic tradition of care for the Village, its architecture and residents.
